Mary Elizabeth Jones

Mary Elizabeth Jones, 86, of Bowling Green died Friday, Feb. 10, 2017 at Moore-Pike Nursing Home in Bowling Green.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation rites are under the direction of Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes.

Mary was born April 12, 1930 in Hannibal, the daughter of Frank E. and Mary Catherine Zumwalt Trower. She was united in marriage to Lowell F. Jones on Nov 8, 1961 in Louisiana.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Willis Reich and husband, Wally of Bowling Green; a son, Gene Jones and wife, Margaret of Perry, and son, Kenneth Jones and wife, Karen, daughter, Mariann Ledford and husband, Jim all of Vandalia; son, Lowell F. Jones II and wife, Terri of Kempner, Texas.; 10 grandchildren, Micah Johnston of Stuttgart, Germany; Allen Angel of Bowling Green; Daniel Angel of Hermann; Jennifer Jones of Columbia; Tiffany Hainline and husband, Tyler of Vandalia; Craig Jones and wife, Amanda of Jacksonville, Fla.; Jillian Jones of Boca Raton, Fla.; James Ledford and Brenna Thompson of Greenwood, Ind.; Mariah Taylor and husband, Josh of Revere; Caleb Jones of Denton, Texas; and nine great-grandchildren, Brayden, Madison, Cooper, Ryley, Raelyn, Katelyn, Madelyn, Abigail and Abe; a sister, Patty Spires and husband, Gene, and sister-in-law, Betty Trower, all of Vandalia; many nieces, nephews and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, her parents, two brothers, Donald Trower and Bill Trower; and sister-in-law, Opal Trower.

Mary was a beautician for over 70 years, still holding her license at the time of her death. Over the years, her profession brought her into contact with most of the residents of Pike County.

She loved her family, pets, customers, helping people and animals.

The family requests memorials be given to Smyrna Cemetery, Pike County Hospice, or the animal rescue of donor’s choice.
