Ethel Ruth Cheney Clausen

Ethel Ruth Cheney Clausen , 62, died unexpectedly Sunday, March 26, 2017 at her home in Farber.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m., at Elm Grove Baptist. Interment of her cremains will take place at a later date.

Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the Elm Grove Baptist Church north of Vandalia.

She was born July 10, 1954 in Vandalia, the daughter of Floyd Richard and Ethel Lee Kuda Cheney Sr. She married James Stanley Clausen in Farber on Sept. 12, 1972. He preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 2005.

Survivors include her mother, Ethel Cheney of Farber; three brothers, Floyd Richard Cheney II of the Philippines, Wayne Cheney of rural Vandalia, and Randy Cheney of Farber; three sisters,Carolyn Ford of Vandalia, Altha Gillenwater of Farber, and Wanda Winders of Vandalia; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; husband; sister, Myra Woolfolk, and two nephews, Russell Cheney, and Jonathan Gillenwater.

She attended Farber schools and was a lifelong Farber area resident. Ruth had been a full-time homemaker and had worked as a cook at the Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia for many years. She was a member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church and the Farber Fire Department Auxiliary.

Ruth enjoyed playing cards, shopping, her flowers, visiting with family and friends and her two companion dogs, Daisy and Pete.

Memorials are encouraged to the Elm Grove Baptist Church.
