Charles E. Burnett

Charles E. “Charlie” Burnett, 87, of Rockport, Ill., died Monday, May 1, 2017 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

Funeral services were Friday at 2 p.m., at Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, Ill., with military honors at Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill.

Visitation was Friday from noon until time of services at the funeral home.

Charles was born Sept. 14, 1929 in Louisiana, a son of Leslie and Jennie Edwards Burnett. He married Delia M. Kelley on Nov. 17, 1957 in Troy. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Dennis Edward Burnett of Rockport, Ill.; a sister, Lillian Blaise of Quincy, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Roberta Ard and a brother, Junior Burnett.

He was a long time employee of Ackles Orchards in New Hartford and had also owned and operated the Atlas Flea Market

He was an antique automobile enthusiast and collector and enjoyed visiting with his friends.

Charles was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was of the Pentecostal faith.

Memorials may be made to the Pike County Humane Society.
