Lucile Frances Grimes

Lucile F. Grimes, 99, of Eolia died Sunday, May 7, 2017 .

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m., at Eolia United Methodist Church in Eolia the Rev. Conrad Cheatham and Leslie Grimes will officiate. Music will be by Jim Mayes. Interment will be in the Eolia City Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday (today) from 4-8 p.m., at McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory Eolia.

She was born on Nov. 12, 1917 in rural Lincoln County to Lewis Finley and Lena Frances Springston Brown. On April 27, 1940 she married Champ Clark Grimes. They resided in Moline, Ill., until 1946, when they returned to Pike County.

She is survived by her daughters, Sara McBeth and Jane Mann both of Eolia; grandchildren, Susen and David McBeth, Amanda Mann Jones, Carson and Lewis Mann; and great-grandchildren, Lauren and Thomas McBeth and Stella Mann. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Brown of Bowling Green and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Champ Grimes and her siblings, Mildred Houston, Alvin and Carroll Brown.

Lucille taught school at Hickory Ridge, Smith, White Swan and Eolia. She loved making pressed flower cards to give to her visitors, hunting mushrooms, working in her yard and doing family and area history.
