Victor Albert ‘Vic’ Davis

Services for Victor Albert (Vic) Davis, 85, of Vandalia, will be held at noon, Saturday, May 13 at Vandalia United Methodist Church with the Rev. Helen McFarland officiating. Burial will be in Vandalia Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Bienhoff Funeral Home.

Mr. Davis died Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Mexico.

He was born March 14, 1932 in Bland, Mo., the son of Roy E. and Helen Pilch Davis. He was married to Betty Lou Mitchell on June 6, 1954 in Vandalia. She preceded him in death Sept. 19, 2013.

Survivors include one son, Doug Davis and wife, Doris of Jefferson City; one daughter, Vicki Hopke and husband, David of Vandalia; two sisters, Dorothy Mathes and Mildred Knowles, both of Kansas City; five grand children, Andrew Fletcher and wife, Samantha of St. Charles, Kaitlin Hopke of Mexico, Brent Davis and Drake Hopke, both of Kansas City, and Luke Davis who is stationed in Guam; and three great grandchildren, Owen, Celia, and Doreen Fletcher.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Davis, and two sisters, Josephine Geering and Louise Jennings.

Mr. Davis was a lifetime area resident and member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church. He attended Vannoy School as a young man. He then entered the US Air Force from 1951-55 where he attained the rank Airmain First Class.

He was employed as an electrician with CE Refractories for over 30 years and then Agri-Foods in Hawk Point for over 10 years. Mr. Davis was a member of the Laddonia American Legion Post #510, the Vandalia Country Club, and enjoyed coaching little league for many years. Among his favorite things to do were hunting, fishing, wood working, playing golf, watching the Cardinal baseball games, and spending time with his family.

He loved being a resident at the Veterans Home, sharing time with his comrades, and the wonderful staff.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Fletcher, Kaitlin Hopke, Brent Davis, Drake Hopke, Luke Davis, Joey Hamlett, and Larry Kirtlink.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Vandalia United Methodist Church or the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Mexico.
