Bruce Bernard McKenna

Bruce Bernard McKenna, 62, of Louisiana died Monday, May 22, 2017 at Barnes Hospital.

A Celebration of Life service will be SaturdayCalvary Gospel Church in Summer Hill, Ill., at 1 p.m.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to stay for the “BBQ” following the service.

He was born in Pittsfield, Ill., on April 4, 1955, son of Mary Jane Bruce Williams and Worman “Lou” McKenna .

He is survived by his wife, Donita Sheppard McKenna; two sons, Kyle McKenna and wife, Melissa and Clinton McKenna; step-children, Molly Chamberlain and husband, Greg and Joe Stine and wife, Kristy; sixgrandchildren, Conner, Alexis, Carter, Anna Chamberlain, Jack and Jacob Stine; father, Lou McKenna; stepmother, Bonnie McKenna; brothers, Paul McKenna and wife, Jacque, David Williams Jr., and wife, Lindsay; sisters, Cindi McKenna, Marcie McGuire and husband, Randy, Vicki Pursifull, Dawn Barnes and husband, Jeff, Lisa Brown and husband, Chris; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Williams.

Bruce enjoyed spending time with his wife, his sons, step children and grandchildren. He was passionate about BBQ, gardening and traveling. Bruce studied gemology in Paris, Texas and enjoyed owning and operating his jewelry store in Louisiana for many years. He later worked in his family business, Best Buy Homecare.

His love and kindness for people will be his greatest legacy. For 16 years Bruce dedicated his life to helping people overcome addictions. He loved his work and ministry with Addicts Victorious. His inspiring presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

In lieu of flowers, Bruce requested memorial donations be made to Crave the Movement, a charity for youth battling addiction.
