Nolan John Miller

Nolan John Miller, 76, of Bowling Green died Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Country View Nursing Facility in Bowling Green.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Friday at St. Clement Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Peckman officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery.

Visitation was from 4-8 p.m., Thursday at Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.

Nolan was born Dec. 18, 1940 in Bowling Green, the son of Ansel John and Leona Elizabeth Korte Miller. He married Delores McBride at St. Clement Catholic Church on Aug. 18, 1962. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Jeff Miller and wife, Heather of Bowling Green; one daughter, Diane Dempsey and husband, Robert of Curryville; grandchildren, Tyler Dempsey and wife, Jessie, Lauren Dempsey, Nicole Miller and Jesse Miller; great-grandchild, Kyler Clair; three brothers, Cletus Miller, Ed Miller and husband, Ellen, and Ralph “Chub” Miller and wife, Kay; three sisters, Annette Trower and husband, Wiley, Kathleen Hustedde and husband, Joe, and Nancy Cox and husband, Jamie; four sisters-in-law, Aleta Miller, Susie Miller, Mary Andrews and Janice McBride; two brothers-in-law, Leo McBride and wife, Carolyn, and Larry McBride.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Philip Miller and Harry Miller; brothers-in-law, Leon McBride and Dean Andrews; and a sister-in-law, Linda McBride.

Nolan lived all his life in Bowling Green attending the St. Clement Church. He was a business owner, devoted member of the community and enjoyed a lifetime of farming. He was a farmer, an entrepreneur, a visionary…one of the most revered businessmen in our county. He took a corner of his cornfield and turned it into the area’s economic epicenter.

He was a member of the Pike County Fair Board serving as President for three years, a life member of the Knights of Columbus, served on the St. Clement School Board, St. Clement Finance Committee, Young Farmers Association, Farm and Home Administration Board of Directors, Pike County Pork Producers, and FFA. He was Citizen of the year in 1991.

Nolan’s hobbies include tractor pulling, tinkering on old tractors and any type of machinery, playing cards, and most of all spending time with family.

Pallbearers were Ralph “Chub” Miller, Edwin Miller, Jamie Cox, Frank Worthington, Clete Miller, Ryan Rue. Honorary pallbearers were Phil Robertson, Ron Massman, Cletus Miller Sr., Wiley Trower, Eugene Niemeyer, Perry West, Roy Behlmann, Joe Hustedde, Lem Wells, and Bill Harness.

Memorials may be made to Pike County Home Health and Hospice or the St. Clement Cemetery.
