Gary Grant Nolan

Gary Grant Nolan, 65, of Mexico, formerly of Vandalia, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico.

Services were held at noon on Saturday at Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church in rural Vandalia. Military Honors were provided by Laddonia American Legion  Post #510. Private family interment services will be held at a later date.

Visitation was held on Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon.

Mr. Nolan was born Nov. 17, 1951 in Hannibal, the son of Grant and Mildred Hall Nolan.

Survivors include: two daughters, Emily Ebers and Tim McMillen of Fulton and Deanna  Nolan and Scott Otis of Vandalia; one sister, Brenda Johnson and husband, Bruce of Oak Grove; and two grandsons, Kyle Ebers and Ashton Garnett of Vandalia.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; and one brother, Robert “Bob” Nolan.

Gary was a lifetime area resident and member of Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church. He was a 1971 graduate of Van-Far High School and served in the U.S. Army from  Nov. 16, 1971 until June 21, 1973 and attained the rank of Specialist 4.

He was employed at Harbison-Walker for 16 years and then worked for Great Central Lumber for 24 years prior to his retirement June 29, 2015.

He was a member of the Vandalia VFW Post #2173 and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
