Sharon R. Oliver Thomas

Funeral services for Sharon Rose Oliver Thomas of Kearney were at 1 p.m., Saturday at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. The Rev. Paul Garven, pastor of the Elsberry United Methodist Church, officiated with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry.

Visitation was from 6-7:30 p.m., Friday at Fry, Bross and Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney and again from noon until the time of funeral services Saturday at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home.

Mrs. Thomas, 63, died Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Liberty Hospital in Liberty.

Born Aug. 17, 1953 in St. Louis, she was the daughter of James Samuel and Shirley Elizabeth Wilson Oliver.

Sharon was a 1971 graduate of Clopton High School. She was united in marriage on June 29, 1996 to James Thomas. Together, James and Sharon owned The Armory Gun Shop in Kearney.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Thomas of Kearney; two daughters, Jennifer Gant and husband, Jason, of Hardin, and Samantha Goldenstein of San Antonio, Texas; and three grandchildren, Samara, Weston and Kaleb Gant. Sharon also leaves her mother, Shirley Oliver of Elsberry; two sisters, Susan Oliver of Elsberry and Stacy Erickson and husband, Jason, of Austin, Texas; two brothers, Steve Oliver of Kansas City, Kan., and Scott Oliver and wife, Danice of Elsberry; her best friend and aunt, Carrol Totten-Clark of Warrenton; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Sharon was preceded in death by her father, James Oliver; and one sister, Sheila Farris.

Serving as pallbearers were Gary Baker, Dustin Vohs, Danny Vohs, Steven Totten, Jr., Eric Oliver and Jeff Butler. Honorary pallbearers were Jason Erickson, Mike Lewis and Stanley Ward.
