Rosella A. Bahr

A Mass of Christian burial for Rosella Agnes Marie Bahr, 87, of Vandalia, will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Vandalia with Father Jason Doke officiating. Burial will be in Vandalia Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 p.m., with rosary service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Bienhoff Funeral Homes.

Mrs. Bahr died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017 at Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia.

She was born Oct. 24, 1929 in Ste. Genevieve, the daughter of Francis and Agnes Basler Meyer. She was married to Joseph Junior Bahr on Feb. 3, 1951 in Ste. Genevieve. He preceded her in death Sept. 6, 2016.

Survivors include three sons, Mike Bahr of Vandalia, Thom Bahr and wife, Deni of Kirksville, and Tim Bahr and Ron Jagels of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Jennifer Woods and Chris Bahr, both of Columbia, and Jordan Bahr of Kirksville; and one great grandchild, Madison Watkins.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur “Sonny” Meyer; one sister, Mary Ann Meyer; and one daughter-in-law, Marilyn Bahr.

Mrs. Bahr was a graduate of Ste. Genevieve High School. She and her husband moved to Vandalia in 1956 coming from Ste. Genevieve. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary Society, and the Vandalia Country Club. She and her husband owned and operated Bahr’s Quality Cleaners for many years and she served as an Avon representative for over 50 years. She enjoyed gardening and assisted with the flowers at the Vandalia Country Club for many years. Making pies was her specialty and many would line up just to get a piece of her pies. She also enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family members.

Pallbearers will be Chris Bahr, Shawn Woods, Ron Jagels, David Carlson, Dewey Straube, and Jordan Bahr.
