Gerald Elwood Wallace

Services for Gerald Elwood Wallace, 76, of Vandalia, were held at noon, Saturday at Vandalia First Baptist Church Family Life Center with the Rev. Kenny Haddock and the Rev. Brian Lehenbauer officiating. Interment will be in Vandalia Cemetery.

Visitation was Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Arrangements were under the direction of Bienhoff Funeral Home.

Mr. Wallace died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017 at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital-Audrain in Mexico.

He was born July 6, 1941 in Sarcoxie, the son of Sherman and Lillian Adkins Wallace. He was married to Patsy Bunch Hayes on Aug. 6, 1966 in Farber. She preceded him in death Nov. 5, 2007.

Survivors include his mother, Lillian Wallace of Vandalia; one aunt, Evelyn Terwilliger of Eldon; three daughters, Debby Nichols of Laddonia, Rhonda Morice of Portland, Tenn., and Kim Wallace of St. Peters; three grandchildren, Bethny Reicke and husband, Anthony of New Bloomfield, Alex and Reagan Morice, both of Portland, Tenn.; one great granddaughter, Payton Riecke of New Bloomfield; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, one sister, Joyce Windland and son-in-law Larry Nichols.

Mr. Wallace was a lifetime area resident and Baptist by faith. He attended Bowling Green High School and then went to work as a chemical control operator for Hercules Dyno Nobel Plant in Louisiana.

He was a member of the Vandalia Masonic Lodge 491 and the Laddonia Odd Fellows Lodge 456. He enjoyed fishing, playing bingo, spending time with his coffee buddies, and getting treats at the Dairy Queen.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Krigbaum, Anthony Riecke, Rob Windland, Rick Windland, Dick Gooch, and Raymond Kirtlink. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Allen Morris, Calvin Bontz, Art Wiser, Randy Lewis, Gary Giltner, Larry Wheeler and Burt Morris.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Tri County Care Center Activities Department.
