Donna Epperson

Donna Epperson, 70, of Frankford died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017 at Parkside Manor in Columbia.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Saturday at Salt River Christian Church in Rural New London. Rev. Richard Epperson officiated. Burial was in Salt River Christian Church Cemetery in Rural New London.

Visitation was from 6-8 p.m., Friday at James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.

Donna was born June 10, 1947 in Rural Hunnewell to Elmer and Frances Klein Burditt. She was married to Alan “Grant” Epperson on May 31, 1991 at Salt River Christian Church in rural New London. He survives.

Other survivors include four children, Kim Bartshe and husband, Darryl of Blue Springs, Kristi Shinn and husband, Doug of Columbia, Kurt Shepherd and wife, Linsey of Overland Park Kan., Klarisa Tischhauser and husband, Lucas of Shawnee, Kan.; three step-children, Alan Wayne Epperson and Christy Ogle of Emerson, Angie Lee and husband, Kerry of Monroe City, Adam Epperson and wife, Tiffany of Frankford; two brothers, Arnold Burditt and wife, Cathy of Hunnewell, and Ron Burditt and wife, Jennifer of Hunnewell; one sister, Joyce Ogle and husband, Ronnie of Huntington; two sisters- in-law, Linda Burditt of Longview, Texas and Donna Lynn Rhinesmith and husband, Richard of Kirksville.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, J.W. Burditt.

Donna was a loving wife, mother and grandma and simply enjoyed being with her family.

Over the years Donna had worked in various positions, but none were more memorable than the years that she spent with her best friend operating “The Dough Barn” in Bethel. “Donita’s Donuts” were famous to many and customers would travel from near and far to sample Donna’s treats. A talented baker Donna made the best donuts, cakes and cinnamon rolls with her best friends, Anita Miles and Marilyn Shouse.

Music was always a passion of Donna’s. She enjoyed playing the piano at her church and sharing music with area nursing home residents with her husband, Grant where they would often sing and perform together. Donna also enjoyed watching old westerns, musicals and “The Andy Griffith Show”. She developed a love of travel and got to see much of the country traveling with her family at a young age showing Fair Polled Hereford Cattle that the family raised. Later in life with her family Donna took pleasure in trips to Montana to visit family and also adventures to Canada where she always enjoyed learning more about the history of the area she was visiting.

Donna most cherished her family and her faith. She was an active member of the Salt River Christian Church where she was involved in the music ministry singing and playing the piano and also as a bible school teacher.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Griffin, Zach Burditt, Ronnie Ogle, Lance Burditt, Scott Burditt and Kerry Lee.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Down Syndrome Guild of Kansas City, MO.
