Felicity Ann Goodpasture-Culwell

Felicity Ann Goodpasture-Culwell, 45, of rural Vandalia died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017 at the family’s home south of Vandalia.

Funeral services were Sunday at 1:30 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Joel Montgomery officiating. Music was provided by Ruth Calcaterra and Ruth Nation – vocalists; Joy Davis – organist. Entombment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation was Saturday from 2-6 p.m., at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia.

She was born Feb. 21, 1972 in Mexico, the daughter of Selby Eugene and Charlene Mary Steffen Goodpasture. She married Shannon Mayo Culwell Jr., in Vandalia on April 13, 1996.

Survivors include her husband, Shannon Culwell Jr., of rural Vandalia; two sons, Treyson Eugene Goodpasture Culwell, Reece Shannon Culwell; one daughter, Annalynn Goodpasture Culwell; her mother, Charlene Goodpasture of rural Center; father and mother-in-law, Shannon Mayo Sr., and Linda Gooch Culwell of rural Vandalia; three sisters and their families, Emily Ann Davies and husband, Darrin, Shelby, Dustin and Delaney of Dawn, Leticia Ann Hulse and husband, Ryan, Selby, Edward, Burt, Cecelia and Anna of Hannibal; Greta Ann Hopke and husband, Justin, Garrett, Kate and Emma of rural Vandalia; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sheila Culwell Frost and husband, Greg, and son, Samuel Boyd Middleton of rural Vandalia; maternal grandmother, Catherine Lackner of Cuba; she is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.

She was preceded in death by father, Selby Eugene Goodpasture in 1987.

Pallbearers were Josh Johnson, Jon Robnett, Jason Bean, Bert Shannon, Chris Kohl and Doug Aylward. Honorary pallbearers: Scott Hodges, Greg Frost, Darrin Davies, Justin Hopke, Ryan Hulse and Brandon Straube.

Felicity grew up in the rural Vandalia area and was a 1990 Van-Far High School graduate. She graduated from the University of Missouri in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in ag economics.

She then began working for Culwell Farms and continued farming as her career. Felicity was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Vandalia where she served as an elder, deacon, Sunday School superintendent and financial officer.

She was also a member of the Susanna Randolph Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; P.E.O.; the Vandalia YMCA Project Chairperson; Van-Far Athletic Boosters; Consolidated Electric Coop board member; Channel Seedsman; Vandalia Recreation Corporation president; Playcare treasurer, and Abronne representative.

Her hobbies included running, basketball, and supporting her children in all their sporting events.

Memorials are encouraged to the Vandalia YMCA Project.
