LHS Alumni Association To Award Four Scholarships This Year

At their recent meeting the Louisiana Alumni and Friends Assn. planning committee voted to award four scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to this year’s graduates.

Application forms are available now from Mrs. Leake, the high school counselor. LHS seniors may access a form through Class of 2018 Counseling in the Google classroom or parents / guardians may email leakel@louisiana.k12.mo.us and request a form. Completed applications are due in the high school Counseling Center no later than March 20th.

The date was set for the annual, all-school reunion social, dinner and dance. It will be held on Saturday, October 20th to again coincide with Louisiana’s ColorFest. It will be held at the American Legion Hall with Cindy Blaylock chairing the event committee. Vicky Keely has again agreed to cater the meal.

Different projects or needs of the district with which the Alumni Association could assist were discussed. The idea was brought up of providing financial support to help complete the final phase of the playground improvements at the elementary school. Two elementary teachers attending, Tina Chidster and Suzy Howland, volunteered to get an updated quote on the cost plus installation for the next meeting. They indicated the Bullpup Boosters had funds which could put toward this as well. It was also agreed to follow up with Superintendent Dr. Smith to see if he had any other ideas for consideration.

Next meeting date was set for Saturday, April 21 at 9:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church.
