Donna Joyce Oberhaus

Donna Joyce Oberhaus, 82, of Middletown, went to meet Jesus Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018 at Parkside Manor in Columbia.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday at Hopewell Baptist Church in Wellsville. The Rev. Nathan Payne will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Middletown.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service, Saturday, at the church.

Services are under the direction of the Myers Funeral Home.

Donna was born Jan. 14, 1936 at her parents’ home in Vandalia, a daughter of Estel and Lena Elizabeth Miller Hoover. On Aug. 31, 1955 at Southside Baptist Church in Vandalia, she married Richard Leo “Dick” Oberhaus. They were the parents of two children and shared over 46 years of marriage before he preceded her in death May 22, 2002.

Donna grew up in Vandalia and lived most of her adult life near Middletown. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in rural Wellsville. She openly shared her love of Jesus and the gift of eternal life through Him.

She enjoyed growing roses and orchids, and cooking and baking, especially pies, for her loved ones.

Her love for her family was immeasurable. Donna loved children and considered her grandchildren her earthly treasures. She also loved her nieces and nephews and their children. Donna loved animals, having dogs, cats and birds as her pampered pets.

Donna is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donna Karys and Alan Keith Bail, of Camdenton; a son, Richard Shawn Oberhaus, of Middletown; granddaughter, Kristin Marie Bail, of Champaign, Ill.; grandsons, Kristopher David Bail, of Waco, Texas and James Richard Bail of Columbia; a sister, Dorothy Mae James of Vandalia and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ann and Harold Todd, of Wellsville, Virginia and Marion Lovelace, of Morganton, N.C., and Janet and John Penker of Cincinnati, Ohio. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Leo “Dick” Oberhaus; parents, Estel and Lena Hoover and grandson, Jonathan Michael Bail.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis Carroz, Marty Lionberger, Tom Nichols, Rodney Scott, Lindell Spiers and Bill Wilkinson.
