Lawrence D. Weable

Funeral services for Lawrence Duane “Larry” Weable of Lake St. Louis were held at noon Monday at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. The Rev. Jerry Gamm, pastor of Curryville Baptist Church officiated.

Visitation was from 3-7 p.m., Sunday at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.

Mr. Weable, 70, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018 at his home in Lake St. Louis.

Born Sept. 10, 1947 in Leon, Iowa, he was the son of Collis Vane and Mary Delores Kleinz Weable. After high school, Larry attended the University of Missouri-Columbia. He was united in marriage on Sept. 5, 1970 in Columbia to Ingrid Ruffner. He was blessed with three children: Stephanie, Jeff and Tonya. Larry and Ingrid owned the Dairy Queen in Bowling Green from 1972-85.

In 1973, Larry served as one of the chairmen for the Bowling Green SesquiCentennial. Active in the Jaycees, Larry served as president of the Bowling Green Chapter in 1976, Missouri State President from 1977-1978 and U.S. Vice President from 1978-79.

Larry went on to work in the restaurant business in the St. Louis area for several years, serving as manager at Po-Folks and Cracker Barrel, then as a salesman for Sysco Foods and Kuna Meats. Larry and Ingrid owned Pizza Plus in Winfield from 2003 until the business was destroyed in 2015.

Larry was extremely sociable and known as a great boss. Upon his retirement in 2015, Larry began serving as a volunteer and mentor for SCORE, a nonprofit organization who offer free support to small business owners. In 2017, Larry also served on the SCORE Executive Committee Board for the St. Louis Area.

Larry loved hunting and fishing with family and friends. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Mizzou Tiger Fan. Larry and Ingrid loved to dine out and support small businesses in the St. Louis area. A passion for traveling, Larry and Ingrid took many trips to explore new and exciting locations. For the last 39 years, they enjoyed attending the annual Lake of the Ozarks “Bowling Green” trip with several of their closest friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Collis Weable.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Ingrid Weable of Lake St. Louis; their children: Stephanie Weable-Libby and husband, Mark, of Portland, Ore., Jeffrey Weable and wife, Amanda of St. Louis and Tonya Goodwin and husband, Sean of Pevely; and seven grandchildren, John and Michael Libby, Anna and Charlotte Weable and Jackson, Natalie and Chase Goodwin. Larry also leaves his mother, Mary Delores Kleinz Weable of Columbia; three brothers, Tom Weable and his wife, Marie, of Loveland, Ohio, Basil “Bud” Weable and wife, Cathy, of Thornton, Colo., and Douglas “Shag” Weable and wife, Jennifer, of Columbia; one sister, Vanette Gibbs and husband, Scott of Columbia; several nieces, nephews other relatives and many, many employees and friends.

Serving as pallbearers were Thomas Weable, Alex Gibbs, Tommy Gibbs, Chris Weable, Jake Whitesides and Tim Gamm.
