Don Oakley

Don Oakley, 75, of Louisiana died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield.

Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m., Sunday at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. Pastor William H. Hobbs officiated. Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Bowling Green.

Visitation was from 1 p.m., until time of service at 2:30 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.

He was born Carlus Don Oakley on Oct. 20, 1942 in Malden to Alvie and Gladys Oakley. He was married to Marilyn Johnson in 1982 at Las Vegas, Nev. She survives.

He is also survived by one son, Mark Oakley and wife, Marla; two daughters, Judy Ellison and husband, Steve, and Tammie Christianson; five granddaughters, Amanda Roth and husband, Kevin, Desirae Ellison, Emmalee Oakley, Gabrielle Christianson, and Amanda Burr and husband, Steven; three great-grandchildren, Madeline, Garrett, and Ethan; two brothers, Ed Oakley and wife, Sue of California, Jack Oakley and wife, Marsha of St. Charles; and a sister, Sandy Ewing and husband, Carl of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Don was a member of the One Way Ministry in Bowling Green, and served as an elder of the church.

He had served as a councilman for the City of Louisiana on two different terms.

Don enjoyed restoring old things, including motorcycles and cars, and enjoyed going to car shows.
