Claudia J. Wells

Claudia J. Wells, 95, of Bowling Green died Monday, Feb. 26, 2018 at the Lynn Heritage House in Louisiana surrounded by her family.

Funeral services were at 12 p.m., Saturday at Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.  Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Ashley.

Visitation was from 10 a.m., until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Claudia was born Jan. 1, 1923 in Gazette,  the daughter of Olen Lee and Olive Swope Jarboe.  She married Lemuel A. Wells, Jr. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, Lemuel A. Wells III and wife, Judy of Bowling Green, Jimmie Lee Wells and wife, Brenda of Bowling Green; grandchildren, Lemmie Wells IV of Troy, Karen Branstetter of Ballwin, Kathy Bumeter and husband, Scott of Wildwood, Matt Wells and wife, Sheila of Wildwood and Amy Auwarter of Mexico; great grandchildren, Megan Branstetter of Kansas City, Andrew Branstetter of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Brooke Branstetter of Balwin, Abigail Wells of St. Louis, Allison Wells of Springfield, Lemmie Wells V of Troy, Audrie Wells of Troy, Madison Bumeter of Wildwood, Mackenzie Bumeter of Wildwood, Haley Auwarter of Mexico and Anna Auwarter of Mexico; and special caregiver, Marquita Hickerson of Louisiana.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a grandson, Robert James Wells; sisters, Frances Hardesty and Dorothy Chamberlain; brothers-in-law, Murray Hardesty and Winton Chamberlain.

Claudia was a member of the Hopke Disciples of Christ Church, DAR, Pike County Auxiliary member of the Pink Ladies and helped start the Pike County and Montgomery County Genealogy Societies.  She enjoyed fishing, gardening and genealogy.

Serving as pallbearers were Lemuel A. Wells III, Andrew Branstetter, Matt Wells, Lemmie Wells IV, Scott Bumeter and Lemmie Wells V.

Memorials may be made to the Pike County Home Health and Hospice or the Shilo Christian Children’s Ranch.
