Bobby Jay Penrod

Bobby Jay Penrod, 85, of Louisiana died Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Lynn’s Heritage House in Louisiana surrounded by his family.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Tuesday at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana with the Rev. Alvin Young officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Louisiana.

Visitation was from 5-8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.

Bobby was born Feb. 13, 1933 in Ashburn. He married Carolyn Joan Guthrie Oct. 3, 1952. She preceded him in death Jan. 19, 1996.

Survivors include daughters, Robin Martin of Louisiana, Shannon Willis and husband, Rodney of Louisiana and Kathy Walker and husband, Roger of Louisiana; grandchildren, Wendell Martin, Meagan Slate and husband, Chad, Bobby Willis and Julia Davis, Elizabeth Wilhite and husband, Branden, James Walker and Christina Short, and Justin Walker and Danielle Woemmel; great-grandchildren, Jimmy, Hannah, Kiltin, Kyndle, Braxton, and Ajax; many nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two sisters Dorothy Traynor and Pearl King.

Bobby lived most of his life in Louisiana and attended Louisiana High School.

He served in the United States Army as a corporal during the Korean War. Bobby worked for 30 years in maintenance at Sonoco Products company in Louisiana. He was a member of the American Legion Post #370.

Bobby enjoyed playing cards at the Trimble House, fishing and camping. He was a simple man and always had a smile.

Serving as pallbearers were Billy Boston, Bo Ringhausen, Trey Sharp, Jimmy Pitzer, Danny Wood, and Rob Starman. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Tom Duncan, John Shade, John Sitton, Phillip Joseph, Jim Pitzer, Bill Boston, Bill Ringhausen and Peggy Branstetter.

Memorials may be made to the Trimble House or Fairview Cemetery.
