Emma Ann Hopke

Emma Ann Hopke, 5 ½ months, died Friday, April 13, 2018 in the loving arms of her family at home in rural Vandalia.

Funeral services were Sunday at 4 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Joel Montgomery officiating. Interment was in Vandalia Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation was Sunday from 2 p.m., until service time at the First Presbyterian Church in Vandalia.

She was born Oct. 28, 2017 in Columbia, the daughter of Justin L. and Greta A. Goodpasture Hopke.

Survivors include her parents, Justin and Greta Hopke of rural Vandalia; one brother, Garrett E. Hopke and one sister, Kate L. Hopke, both of the home; paternal grandparents, Dale and Marilyn Hopke; and maternal grandmother, Charlene Goodpasture; great-grandparents, Catherine Lackner, Lyndell and Martha Rathburn Hopke; also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Eugene Goodpasture; and aunt, Felicity Goodpasture-Culwell.

She had been recently baptized into the First Presbyterian Church in Vandalia.

Honorary pallbearers were Shelby, Dustin and Delaney Davies; Treyson, Annalynn and Reece Culwell; Selby, Edward, Burton, Cecelia and Anna Hulse; Jaylyn Kraft.

The family requests, “we have been so blessed by the love and generosity of so many. In place of memorials we ask you to go and share the Christ-like love and generosity inspired by sweet Emma to others as they cross your path.”
