Edward James Smith

Edward James Smith, 66, of Marshall died Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Boone County Center in Columbia.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 10 at Marshall Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Pete Swaringam officiating.

Visitation was held from 1 p.m., until time of service Tuesday at the church. Burial was at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall.

Ed was born Dec. 10, 1951, in Louisiana to the late Norman Smith and Eleanor Braxton Smith Shepard. He married Joyce Cheek on June 18, 1982.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; children, Nicole Dike, Deirdre Jelks, Hope Morton, James Tittsworth and wife, Anna, Deana Tittsworth, and Elizabeth Thomas and husband, Kevin; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Bette Maxwell and Joyce Bell and husband, Rudy; and brother, Norman Smith; several nieces and nephews; aunt, Fredia Johnson; and many cousins.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by one daughter, Terressa Hughart.

He was a 1970 graduate of Louisiana High School. After graduation he worked at Pike County Memorial Hospital as an x-ray/lab technician and paramedic.

In 1985 he moved to Marshall where he worked at Marshall Habilitation Center until retirement.

He was a member of Marshall Pentecostal Church where he served as associate pastor.

Pallbearers were Zachery Hughart, Justin Hughart, Cody Hughart, Scott Thomas, Lamonte Smith, Kevin Thomas, and Dustin Tittsworth

Memorials may be made to the family’s choice, c/o Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall.
