Erik Brolinson

Louisiana Missouri native Erik Brolinson of Louisiana High School class of 1976 died Thursday, April 19 2018 in Herndon, Va., near Washington D.C., where he had been living for the past several years.

An outgoing and fun-loving guy, he will be missed by all that knew him.

He was always willing to lend a helping hand and was kind and generous to those he knew and loved. He would literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. His big smile and hearty laugh would light up any room.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth “Liz” Dunster Brolinson, his father, Dr. Per Y. “Doc” Brolinson, and half-brother, Richard Kania and wife, Ellie.

He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Brolinson Nixon and husband, Peter, a brother, Dr. Per Gunnar Brolinson and wife, Lesia.

He enjoyed camping, fishing and all sorts of outdoor activities. He was an expert mechanic and could outwork just about anybody. Heaven just got a helping hand. May he rest in peace.

A memorial service will be planned in Louisiana at a date to be determined later this summer.

If you would wish to honor his memory in lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Erik’s name to the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) for “The Per Yngve Brolinson, D.O., Rural Family Medicine Scholarship,” which helps support medical students who plan to practice medicine in a rural community.

Checks may be made payable to VCOM, and sent to the attention of Thimothy Corvin, VCOM, 2265, Kraft Drive, Blacksburg, Virginia 24060 or online at https://goo.gl/VZNF7L.
