Frances Fitzgerald Haley

Frances Fitzgerald Haley, 97, of Bowling Green died Friday, May 4, 2018.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday (today) at Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with Rebecca Glenn officiating. Burial will be in Bowling Green Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday (today) from 11 a.m., until time of services at the funeral home.

Frances was born Jan. 28, 1921 in Bowling Green, the daughter of Catherine Brown Fitzgerald and Dr. Frank William Fitzgerald Sr. She married J.D. Haley on Sept. 26, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas. He preceded her in death June 2, 2003.

Survivors include one daughter, Sue Haley of Bowling Green; a brother, Thomas Fitzgerald and wife, Helen of Monroe City; several nieces and a nephew.

Frances was educated in the Bowling Green public schools, Central College, Fayette, and University of Missouri at Columbia. She graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor of science degree in education and received a lifetime teaching certificate.

Frances and J.D. owned and operated the Modern Cleaners in Bowling Green for many years. She was a past member of Eastern Star and a current member of Chapter DA of the PEO Sisterhood.

She enjoyed playing the piano and doing the New York Times Crossword Puzzles. She and her husband J.D. loved to travel and took many European trips with their daughter Sue and traveled extensively throughout the United States.

Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Reynolds, Wally Reich, Todd Smith, Allen Smith, Paul Hill and Kevin Brown.

Memorials may be made to the Bowling Green High School Alumni Association or the Twin Pike Family YMCA.
