Carl W. Schulze

Carl W. Schulze, 75, of Silex died Monday, May 14, 2018 at Delmar Gardens in Chesterfield.

Private services to be held at a later date.

He was born April 13, 1943 in Deer Plain, Ill., to Edwin and Alice Halmeyer Schulze. Carl grew up with his six siblings in Deer Plain before moving to Golden Eagle, Ill. His parents owned a Minneapolis/Moline Farm Equipment dealership and Carl worked in the shop and also on the farm they owned at a young age. He was blessed with mechanical ability like his father.

Carl met his future wife, Karen Klosterman at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Brussels, Ill.; and they were married in 1965.

To this union were born two children, Chris and Shelly. In 1980, the couple moved to Clarksville and were the owners of the Falacon Bed & Breakfast. They were gracious hosts to their many visiting guests that stayed in their 20-room mansion on the hill. Carl missed worked with cars and tractors and so they moved to Lincoln County and once again he was happy doing mechanical work.

They opened Schulze Classic Cars Restoration and have since turned the business over to their son. Working on antigue tractors, especially Minneapolis/Moline tractors was a favorite pastime of his. His family was always his priority in life and he dearly loved each and everyone of them.

Surviving are his devoted, beloved wife of over 53 years, Karen Schulze of Silex; a son, Chris Schulze of Silex and a daughter, Shelly Durbin of Zeeland, Mich.; and grandson, Collin Durbin; and five siblings.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, c/o McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1304 Boone St., Troy, MO 63379.
