James Renner

James Renner, 89, of Louisiana died Friday, June 8, 2018 at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake St. Louis.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Randall Cone officiating.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m., until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

He was born July 1, 1928 in Hannibal, the son of Ellen Peterson Renner and Ellis Renner. He was married to Rita Chambers in 1949 and they were parents of five sons, Gary Renner of Wildwood, David Renner of St. Charles, Robert Renner and wife, Beuna of Washington, Phil Renner and wife, Monica of Louisiana, and Paul Eric Renner and wife, Amy of Parkville. His grandchildren are Erin Renner Kanpelmann, Cassandra Renner, Andy Renner, Matthew Renner, Joel Renner, Shelby Renner, Samantha Renner, Bryan Renner, Alexa Renner, and Weston Renner. His great grandchildren are Caleb and Kathleen Kanpelmann.

He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Jim had served in the Missouri Guard following high school for a few years. He worked for Southwestern Bell for many years retiring in 1986, working in Louisiana, Clarksville, and Elsberry.

He was an avid carpenter having built two houses and many other projects. He enjoyed getting involved with the community serving on the Louisiana School Board, Pike County Hospital Board, and the Special Road District.

Jim enjoyed deer and elk hunting, fishing, and was a gun trader and collector. He loved to visit the western United States and enjoyed traveling over the United States, Canada, and other places. He loved to meet friends at the Trimble House.

He was a wonderful husband and father and will be missed very much by friends and family. He lived a long and good life.
