Paul F. Motley

Paul F. Motley, 81, of Bowling Green died Sunday, June 10, 2018 at his home.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Bowling Green with the Rev. Bill Hobbs officiating.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday at Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.

Paul was born Feb. 9, 1937 in Atlas, Ill., the son of George Fredrick and Dola Pearl Dixon Motley. On May 23, 1959 he married Dorothy Mae Hammett at the preacher’s house in Bowling Green. She survives.

Other survivors include sons, Robert Fry Jr. of Hannibal, Paul W. Motley Sr. of Bowling Green, William Motley of Bowling Green; daughters, Lora Vonvain and husband, Mike of Bowling Green, Debbie Liffick and husband, Tom of Bowling Green, “Tiny” Thelma Shy and husband, Don of Bowling Green, Donna Curry and husband, Denny of Curryville, and Rita Liffick of Bowling Green; 26 grandchildren; 59 plus one on the way great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Roy Motley of Stockton, and Ray Motley and wife, Shirley of Bowling Green.

He was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Deanna Motley, John Curry and Jason Vonvain; siblings, Mary Preston, Lora Boots, Ernest Motley Sr., Raymond Motley, Elmer Motley, Howard Motley, Fred Bolton Sr., Clarence Motley, George W. Motley, and Willie M. Motley and a daughter-in-law, Peggy Sue Motley.

Paul was born in Illinois and moved to Missouri when he was 8 years old and was a Baptist by faith.

He worked for Stark Brothers Nurseries for 60 plus years. He enjoyed cutting and hauling hay, gardening, watching westerns, playing Bingo and most of all his family.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Curry, Bryan Curry, Alan Hurd, Davy Sherman, Shane Fry, Paul W. Motley Jr. and Justin Fairchild. Honoray pallbearers will be Dylan Fox, James Fox Jr., Tom Liffick, Fred Liffick and Henry Resor.
