James Rudolph ‘Rudy’ Bell

James Rudolph “Rudy” Bell, 79, of Louisiana died surrounded by friends and family on Thursday, June 8, 2018 at Maple Grove Lodge in Louisiana.

A memorial will be held at a later date per Mr. Bell’s request.

He was born in Louisiana July 30, 1938 to John and Bessie McPike-Bell. He married Joyce Smith Nov. 24, 1962.

Rudy and Joyce live their married life in Louisiana where Rudy worked construction and at the old Pike County Memorial Hospital.

Later in life, he was successfully self-employed.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce Bell; two sons, Rudy Bell Jr. and wife, Gezil of Louisiana, and Ovalta Bell and wife, Twalla of Louisiana; seven grandchildren, Valerie Anderson and husband, Colin of Fort Knox, Ken., Taylor Bell and fiancé AJ of Wildwood, Camille Bell of St. Charles, Navii Ward, Niaa Ward, Kevin Ward Jr. and Kristian Ward of Quincy, Ill.; and one sister, Mary Jean Harris of University City. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews all of whom he loved very much.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Kevin Ward Sr., one brother, John “Pikie” Bell, and three sisters, Rosanna, Bobby, and Mildred.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel A.M.E. Church 201 North 6th Street of Louisiana, MO 63353, Alzheimer’s Association, or an organization of the donor’s choice.
