Marvin Kent Robinson

Funeral services for Marvin Kent Robinson (the man with a smile) of Elsberry were at 2 p.m., Saturday at the Elsberry United Methodist Church. Pastor Robert Griffin, Sr., pastor of Christian Embassy Church in Black Jack, the Rev. Doug Roam, pastor of the Elsberry Apostolic Pentecostal Church, the Rev. Henry Brewer, pastor of the Troy UMC, and the Rev. Brenda Cockrell, pastor of the Centennial UMC officiated with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry.

Visitation was from 10 a.m. until time of the service Saturday at Elsberry United Methodist Church.

Mr. Robinson, 61, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018 at Mercy Hospital Lincoln in Troy.

Born Jan. 18, 1957 in Troy, he was the son of William Leroy and Mabel Grace Cockrell Robinson. He was a 1975 graduate of Buchanan High School in Troy. Marvin was united in marriage on February 14, 1998 in Elsberry to Rita Ann Watts Coleman.

He worked at many jobs, but most significantly as a sheet metal operator at True Manufacturing in St. Charles County. Marvin was a faithful member of the Centennial United Methodist Church in Elsberry.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 20 years, Rita Robinson of Elsberry; their children, Tikishia Jones and husband, Henri of St. Louis, Jason Robinson and wife, Theresa of Florissant, Aneshia Roberts and husband, Nicholas of St. Peters, Alicia Robinson-Tipp of Moscow Mills, Tre Robinson of Elsberry, Adrienne Coleman of St. Charles and Artrisha Coleman and her companion, Charles Roby of Wentzville; and 16 grandchildren. Marvin also leaves his mother, Mabel Ellis and husband, Arthur of Troy; his father, William “Bill” Robinson of Troy; three sisters, Donna Anderson and husband, Larry, of Wentzville, Tracy Whitaker and husband, James of St. Louis, and Stacy Harris and husband, Clevon of St. Louis; two brothers-in-law, Michael Watts and wife, Roberta of Louisiana, and Edward Watts and wife, Christine of Quincy, Ill.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Serving as pallbearers were Aaron Harris, Charles Roby, Darius Hunter, JaBril Harris, David “Woody” Woodson and Dean Kinsler. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Martin, Clevon Harris, Larry Anderson, James Whitaker, Michael Watts, Craig Cockrell, Ronnie Perkins, Jim Day and Rodney Sydnor.
