Kay G. Dunn

Kay G. Dunn, 80, of Vandalia died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018, peacefully at Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia.

Cremation arrangements are being handled by Waters Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be planned for a later date.

Kay was born in Louisiana July 1, 1938, to Albert and Hazel Gramley of Vandalia. Kay was Baptist by faith and a life-long member of the First Baptist Church in Vandalia. Kay was married to her husband, Bob Dunn for 62 years.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Dunn; one son, Thomas “Tad” Dunn of Vandalia; one daughter, Kaye Schmidt and husband, Dick of St. Louis, four grandchildren, Shaun Schmidt and wife, Louren of New Bern, N.C., Sara Walker and husband, Steven of Spencer, Iowa, Madeline Dunn of Vandalia, and Matthew Dunn of Vandalia; three great-grandchildren, Nickolas Walker, Elizabeth Walker, and Barrett Schmidt, and other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Alvin Gramley and one son, Robert Layne.

Kay worked for the Bowling Green School District as a secretary for the FFA department. She loved working with the students and enjoyed seeing generations of families go thru the vo-ag dept. She had a remarkable memory, never forgetting a student.

She enjoyed traveling with her husband, canvas painting, collecting Lowell Davis figurines and Longaberger baskets. Kay also enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. She was also actively involved in the First Baptist Church of Vandalia, the Bowling Green School District and the Red Hat Ladies of Vandalia. Kay was also a former EMT for the Van-Far Ambulance District.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to First Baptist Church of Vandalia or Missouri Baptist Children’s Home in the care of Waters Funeral Home P.O. Box 84 Vandalia, MO 63382.
