Leroy Stephen Orf

Leroy Stephen Orf, 78, of St. Clement died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018.

It was Leroy’s wish to be cremated.  Visitation will be held from 8-10 a.m., Saturday at St. Clement Church with the funeral mass to follow at 10 a.m. Fr. Jason Doke will officiate.  Burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery with a dinner to follow at the St. Clement Parish Center.

Leroy was born Sept. 17, 1940 in St. Clement, the son of Louis “Louie” Orf and Marcella “Sally” Tepen Orf.  He had seven sisters and two brothers.  Leroy attended St. Clement School and graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1958.  On Jan. 29, 1971 he married Janet Lenk. She survives.

Leroy was a farmer at heart, beginning with helping his father Louis on the farm.  He raised hogs, cattle and grew grain, even when his eyesight began to fail him.  Family and friends often marveled at how straight Leroy’s rows were, especially given his limited sight.  Even after he had to give up farming, Leroy continued to garden and grow flowers, hobbies he enjoyed until his final days.

He was a member of FFA in high school, a member of the Knights of Columbus in St. Clement for 60 years and a life long member of the St. Clement Catholic Church. He enjoyed butchering with his neighbors, playing croquet, and cruising the country back roads with friends.  Leroy’s greatest joy was his family and spending time with them and his friends.

Other survivors include his children, Deborah Craig of Bowling Green, Linda Henderson and husband, Darrell of Bowling Green, Sandy Sachs and husband, Cliff of Marine, Ill., Greg Orf and wife, Missy of Bowling Green, and Brian Orf and wife, Anita of Bowling Green.
