David L. Windmiller

David L. Windmiller, 84, of Quincy, formerly of Pleasant Hill, Ill., died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at Blessing Hospital.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Saturday at Lummis Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill. Burial, with military honors, were at Crescent Heights Cemetery, Pleasant Hill.
Visitation was Saturday from 9-11 a.m., at the funeral home.
Arrangements were at Lummis Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill.
David was born Aug. 17, 1934, in Rockport, Ill., a son of Hubert and Martha Grimsley Windmiller. He married Connie L. Hoaglin on Sept. 2, 1956, in Pleasant Hill. Connie died May 2, 2008.
Survivors include a son, Russ Windmiller of Quincy; a daughter, Trish Hager and husband, Mitch of Slater; four grandchildren, Jennifer Windmiller of Rock Island, Ill., Janie Windmiller of Quincy, David Hager of Slater, and Dawnann Hager of Slater; a step-grandson, Kent Hager of Slater; a great-granddaughter, Emma Windmiller; a half-sister, Cora Lee Tuley and husband, Ron of Wentzville; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother, Donald Windmiller.
David served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge from the Navy, he was employed by Douglas Aircraft Company in St. Louis. He then was employed by the Dundee Cement Plant in Clarksville for many years before retirement.
David served as mayor of Pleasant Hill in the late ’70s and was active with the Pleasant Hill Lions Club and the Pleasant Hill Boy Scouts. He enjoyed playing cards, all types of puzzles and crosswords and looked forward to reading the newspaper every day from front to back.
David was a long time member of the former Pleasant Hill Church of Christ and attended the Quincy Church of Christ after his move to Quincy.
