Esthol L. Emerick

Funeral services for Esthol Lawrence Emerick of O’Fallon were at 1 p.m., Friday at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. The Rev. Floyd Gudde, pastor of the Elsberry United Methodist Church, officiated with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry.
Visitation was from 10 a.m., until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m., Friday at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
Mr. Emerick, 92, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018 at Jonesburg Nursing and Rehab in Jonesburg. Born Nov. 7, 1926 in Hamburg, Ill., he was the son of Lawrence Richard and Goldie Z. Tolbert Emerick.
Esthol served his country in the United States Navy from Jan. 5, 1945 until he was honorably discharged on July 16, 1946; and again from Nov. 10, 1950-March 12, 1952. During his service, he was a fireman on Destroyer Escorts.
He was united in marriage on Aug. 3, 1946 in Elsberry to Laura Eleanor Damron. Esthol worked as an aircraft mechanic for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft, retiring on Jan. 31, 1989. He was a member of IAM Local #837.
Esthol was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Goldie Emerick; his sister, Elsie Treece; and his beloved wife, Laura Damron-Emerick.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Joe Rogers, Mike Rogers, Rick Beckman, Gerald Beckman, Steve Damron, and Jeff Damron.
