James ‘Jim’ Patton Motley

James “Jim” Patton Motley, 77, of Columbia,formerly of Vandalia died Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, at Boone Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m./ Saturday at Waters Funeral Home in Vandalia. David Moore officiated. Burial with full military honors was in Vandalia Cemetery.
Visitation was at 10 a.m., until the time of the service Saturday at Waters Funeral Home.
James was born Aug. 25, 1941, in Vandalia, the son of Malcom L. and Sue J. Patton Motley.
Jim graduated from Van-Far High School in 1959 and went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Army.
Mr. Motley worked as a collection’s specialist for certified collections in Columbia before his retirement.
Jim enjoyed his working career and spending time with a few close friends.
Survivors include his lifelong friends, Beverly Brown and her daughter, Amy Larkin of Fayette.
Mr. Motley was preceded in death by his parents.
