Pastor Steven Owen Brown

Pastor Steven “Steve” Owen Brown, 65, of Silex died Monday, Jan. 7, 2019.
Funeral services were Monday at 10 a.m., at McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory in Troy. Interment will be at New Salem Cemetery in Winfield at a later date.
Visitation was Friday from 4-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
He was born May 20, 1953 to Jack and Betty Hart Brown. After attending the local schools, Steve enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged and began attending Hannibal LaGrange College.
Steve graduated with a nachelor’s fegree in theology. He and Margie Creech were united in marriage on Aug. 9,1975 at New Salem Baptist Church (where his father was the pastor). To this union were born two sons, Jerrod and Jason. Steve was a minister for over 43 years, he served in many churches; Mill Creek Baptist Church, Salem Baptist Church, New Hartford Baptist Church and Ramsey Creek Baptist Church.
He worked as a case manager for State of Missouri for 15 years and later as a case manager for Northeast Correctional Center for another 15 years. Steve and his family were devoted to their congregations and spent many hours ministering to them.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Margie Brown; two sons, Jerrod Brown and wife, Sarah of Glen Carbon, Ill., and Jason Brown of Silex; four grandchildren, Isabella, Lydia, Oliver and Liam Brown; siblings, Don Brown and wife, Pat of Alaska, Marlene Astling and husband, Joe Astling of Uvalde, Texas, Nathan Brown and wife, Janet of Michigan; mother-in-law, Monna Faye Mott of Winfield; sister-in-law, Wanda Brown of Annada; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jeremy Brown in August 1980 and his brother, Phil Brown.
