Ruben McCrackin

Ruben L. McCrackin, 78, of Eolia died Monday, Feb. 11, 2019 at Barnes/Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
A funeral service to also be held on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at 12 noon, at the Eolia Baptist Church. Interment to follow in the Eolia City Cemetery. Rev. Lyndel Thompson to officiate.
Visitation was Friday from 10 a.m.-noon, at Eolia Baptist Church, Eolia.
He was born Jan. 12, 1941 in Trumann, Ark., to Jethro and Mattie Mills McCrackin. Ruben had five siblings and knew what the word “sharing” meant. He met his future wife, Betty Hamby, while living in Arkansas; and they were married on June 29, 1962 in Vinita Park.
To this union were born two sons, Mike and Matt. Ruben served in the United States Army Reserves for over seven years. He worked as a diesel mechanic for the Wonder Bread Co., in St. Louis and was a good provider for his family.
In 2002 the couple retired to Eolia. He loved to hunt, fish, do gardening and was a big St. Louis Cardinals’ fan. Ruben was a member of the Eolia Baptist Church and liked gospel and country music. He would help at church whenever needed. His family was paramount to him.
Surviving are his devoted and loving wife of over 56 years, Betty McCrackin; two sons and their spouses, Mike and Dorene McCrackin of Lake St. Louis, Matt and Jessica McCrackin of Troy; his two adoring grandchildren, Dale and Temprence. He is further survived by his three siblings, Junior McCrackin of Byrnes Mill, Jane Hamby of St. Charles and Katherine Bernhard of Pacific; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relaties and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his two siblings, G.L. McCrackin and Susie Graham.
