Edith Agnes Bauer

Edith Agnes Bauer, 85, of Silex died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019 in St. Louis.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Saturday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Millwood with Fr. Charles Tichacek officiating. Burial was in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
Visitation was at 9:30 a.m., Saturday at the church with a rosary at 10:30 a.m.
She was born Nov. 29, 1933 in St. Louis, the daughter of Roger Penn and Alvina Anges Craig Davison. On Feb. 2, 1952 she married Francis Martin. He preceded her in death Nov. 6, 2010.
Edith is survived by eight children, Vivian Cody of Silex, Deborah Stegeman and husband, David of Freeburg, Cynthia Mixdorf and husband, David of Waterloo, Iowa, Francis Gregory and wife, Marlys of Park River, N.D., Roberta Eubank and husband, Jon of Conway, Ark., Maryann Jurado and husband, Juan of St. Louis, Martina Brooks and husband, Bryan of Rogers, Ark., and Julie Bauer and Mike Kuhn of St. Louis; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Arline Penn Feigerle; three sisters-in-law, Georgia A. Bauer of Silex, Josepha Bauer CPPS of O’Fallon, and Jenny Bauer of Warrenton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Eva Marie Simmons Davison; one brother, Richard Craig Davison; and two sons-in-law, Todd Metheny and Patrick Cody.
Edith was an active member of St. Alphonsus Parish and School. She was very involved with 4-H and the Extension Homemakers Organization.
She loved cooking, sewing, crocheting and gardening. Edith shared her skills with everyone she met. Edith’s many titles included farmer’s wife, mother, grandma, great grandma, school cook, bus driver, caretaker and volunteer.
Serving as pallbearers were her nine grandsons.
Memorials may be made to St. Alphonsus School or Lincoln County 4-H.
