Wanda Mae Colbert

Wanda Mae Colbert, 80, of Troy died Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Mercy Hospital-Lincoln.

Funeral services were Monday at 11 a.m., McCoy-Blossom Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory in Troy with Father Chuck Tichachek officiating. Interment was in Auburn Cemetery Elsberry.

Visitation was Monday from 9-11 a.m., at the funeral home.

She was born Dec. 12, 1938 in Millwood to Walter and Annabelle Royster Shaw. Wanda attended the local schools along with her four siblings. Wanda was married to Cecil Colbert on Dec. 21, 1956 at St. Clements Catholic Church.

To this union were born seven children; Stephen, Beverly, Brenda, Scott, Becky,Shelby and an infant Stewart who passed away. Wanda worked at Gossard Garment Factory and later was a cook at Medicalodge and KFC.

She was also an Avon Lady for a number of years and took good care of her loyal customers. Wanda was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Millwood. She and Cecil enjoyed going to flea markets and antiquing. Wanda was proud of her garden and worked very hard to can the produce. She loved to go to Nashville and was a big fan of country music.

She is survived by her big, loving family; her children, Stephen Colbert and wife, Dorothy of Vandalia, Beverly and husband, Bob DeVoto of Silex, Brenda and husband, John Zerrer of Elsberry, Scott and wife, Lisa Colbert of Winfield, Becky and husband Mark Wilson of Edgar Springs, Shelby and wife, Sarah Colbert of Moscow Mills; one brother, Bill Shaw and wife, Trudy of Bowling Green; three sisters-in-law, Marjorie Colbert of Elsberry, Elba Colbert of Louisiana, and Anna Dean Fessler of Troy; 11 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and other friends.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Cecil Colbert, infant son: Stewart Colbert, one grandchild and three siblings; Betty, Darlene and Jimmy.
