Matthew ‘Matt’ Wayne Schulte

A Mass of Christian Burial for Matthew “Matt” Wayne Schulte of Old Monroe will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Fr. Richard Rath, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery, Old Monroe.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday (today) at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tom Schulte, Danny Schulte, Bart Schulte, Charlie Gutermuth, Andy Gutermuth and Corey Gutermuth. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry and Lisa Weber, Doug and Tricia Weber, Hannah Weber, Lauren Weber, Lane Weber and Cody Weber.

Mr. Schulte, 50, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019 at his home near Old Monroe. Born March 31, 1969 in Troy, he was the son of Eugene Robert “Gene” and Carol Jean Gutermuth Schulte. A lifelong resident of the Old Monroe community, Matt was a 1987 graduate of Winfield High School.

He worked for many years in residential construction as a drywall hanger for Wehmeier Drywall. He was a member of Carpenter’s Union, Local #32 in St. Louis. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Old Monroe.

Matt enjoyed hunting duck, squirrel, dove and shooting trap. He was also a commercial fisherman, trout line fishing. Known as everyone’s “Uncle Matt”, he loved his little neighbors.

Survivors include his parents, Gene and Carol Schulte of Old Monroe; a sister, Karen Franklin and husband, Scott of Silex; and two nieces, Abbey Franklin and Mandy Franklin, both of Silex. Matt also leaves special friends, Doug and Tricia Weber and Henry and Lisa Weber and their children, Hannah, Lauren, Lane and Cody; lots of aunts, uncles and cousins, other relatives and many friends.
