Louisiana Honors Fallen Police Officers

Two plaques were unveiled at the Louisiana City Council meeting on Monday, Feb. 13.

The plaques recognize fallen officers, Chief of Police Rich Hughes and Officer Lowell Pew.

Hughes was 43 when he passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014.

Pew was just 25 when he was shot and killed in the line of duty on Feb. 14, 1900.

The plaques will be hung in the foyer at city hall.

Council member Kathy Smith spearheaded the idea to recognize Hughes and Pew. She enlisted the help of John Stoeckley to help make the remembrances.
