Betty Lou Arnold

Betty Lou Arnold, 74, of Vandalia died Monday, March 13, 2017 at Landmark Hospital in Columbia.

Funeral services were Saturday at 3 p.m., at Waters Funeral Chapel with Kenny Haddock officiating. Interment of her cremains will take place at a later date.

Visitation was Saturday from 1-3 p.m., at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia.

She was born Nov. 11, 1942 in St. Louis, the daughter of Otto and Mary Marler Arnold. She married Kenneth Phillip Gillmann on July 28, 1958. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include three sons, Stanley W. Gillman and wife, Mandy of Rio Rico, Ariz.; Phillip J. Gillman and wife, Denise of Rolla; Ricky A. Gillmann of Vandalia; one daughter, Vera M. Wilson and Tony McPeeks of Vandalia; two sisters, Katherine Turner of Festus and Mary Elliott of Richwoods; also survived by 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by: parents; one son, Leroy W. Drissel; three brothers: Daniel Arnold, Alfred Arnold, and Joseph Arnold.

Betty attended Windsor schools and was a Christian by faith. Betty worked as a cook in many different restaurants throughout her life. She enjoyed country music and dancing in her younger years. Betty also enjoyed playing bingo and working on crossword puzzles. She especially loved to spend time with her family and friends.

Honorary pallbearers were Chris Bagley, Shaun Gillman, Marcus Gillmann, Russel Lovelace, Jesse Wilson, and Andy Wilson.

Memorials are encouraged to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Lung Association.
