Larry Horstmeier

Memorial services for Larry Dean Horstmeier, 71, of Vandalia, will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday at Vandalia Baptist Church Family Life Center with the Rev. Donnie Schutte officiating. Private family interment services will be held at a later date.

Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Bienhoff Funeral Home.

Mr. Horstmeier died Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia. He was born Nov. 16, 1945 in St. Charles, the son of Herbert O. and Wilma L. Gronefeld Horstmeier.

Survivors include two sons, Matt Horstmeier and wife Robin of O’Fallon, and Mike Horstmeier and wife, Dana of Eolia; his long time sweetheart, Rosie Oberhaus; and four grandchildren, Madison, Dylan, Bryant and Brody Horstmeier.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David Horstmeier; and an aunt, Margaret Gronefeld.

He was a lifetime area resident and farmer. He was a truck driver for many years. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, dancing and playing cards.
