Hawks Down Owls In Courtwarming Tilt

Clopton hosted Silex on Friday, Jan. 12 for the annual Courtwarming game.

The Hawks came out on top 51-39.

Silex ended the first quarter with a 7-3 lead over Clopton. The Hawks came back in the second quarter, outscoring the Owls 13-8. Clopton took a one-point lead into halftime, 16-15.

The Hawks edged Silex in the third quarter by a point, 12-11 for a two-point lead going into the final frame. Clopton closed the door with a 23-13 fourth quarter for the win.

Landon Hall led the way with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds. Zakk Eivins scored nine points, had six rebounds and three steals. Peyton Sambo netted seven, Parker Edmiston scored six, Dalton Strus had five, Shawn Yates scored three and Maleek McPike and Damian Walker each had two in the win.

Clopton squared off with Louisiana on Monday, Jan. 15 and will travel to Barat Academy tonight (Tuesday, Jan. 16). The Hawks will take on North Callaway before the Bowling Green Tournament gets started on Jan. 23.

The Owls are scheduled to take on Valle Park on Wednesday prior to the Bowling Green Tournament.
