Donald Wiss

Donald Wiss, 87, of Hawk Point died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at his home.

A funeral service was held Saturday at 2:30 p.m., at McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory, Troy with the Rev. James Huffman officiating.  Interment was in Hawk Point City Cemetery.

Visitation was Saturday from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m., at McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory in Troy.

He was born March 10, 1930 in Warrenton to Louis and Fannie Bolton Wiss. After attending the local schools, he started working as a farmer and then later as a trucker. Donald and Geneva (Nolle) met in Pendleton when he was working on her aunt’s farm. They were married on June 3, 1950 at Batchtown, Ill., at Batchtown Methodist Church. To this union were born three children, Muriel, Robert Lee and Albert.

Donald was a past member of the Hawk Point Volunteer Fire Dept., Hawk Point Elevator Board for 44 years, Lincoln County Fair Board for several years and Tractor Pullers of Missouri. Donald and Geneva enjoyed spending time with their family and friends. They have made Hawk Point their home for over 67 years and are very proud of their community.

He is survived by his wife, Geneva Wiss of Hawk Point; two children, Muriel Martin and husband, Rodney of Vandalia, and Albert Wiss and wife, Debbie of Hawk Point; four grandchildren, Craig Martin, Scott Martin and wife, Jennifer, Amanda Klass and husband, David, Katie Henke and husband, Aaron; one great-grandchild, Justin Durham. He is further survived by his brother, Neal Wiss and wife, Janet of Laddonia; sisters-in-law, Bernice Wiss and Myrna Wiss, both of Warrenton and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Robert Lee Wiss, and his siblings, sisters, Dolly Dothage and husband, Elger and Judy Kathleen Wiss; brothers, Les, Calvin, David and Carol Wiss.
