David E. Young

David Eugene Young, 76, of Farber died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m., at Waters Funeral Home

Visitation was Monday, Feb. 5 from 11 a.m. until service time at Waters Funeral Home, Vandalia.

He was born July 23, 1941 in Annada, the son of James Buford and Clara Marie Couch Young. He married Delores Ileen Lamberson on April 27, 1966 in Hannibal, She survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Michael Young and wife, Jennifer of Vandalia; Matthew Young and wife, Natasha of Sturgeon, and Steven Young and wife, Kaleena of Raytown; one daughter, Michelle Young of Farber; two sisters, Donna Young of LaMesa, Calif., and Debra Taylor of Ashburn; five grandchildren, Jade Young, Harley Young, Anastasia Young, Abbygail Young, and Kayden Young.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He grew up in the St. Louis area and was a 1959 Riverview Gardens High School graduate. For several years he worked in the area as a contract painter. From 1971-83 he worked as a press operator at CE Refractories. He then worked as a machinist at factories in Montgomery City and Louisiana. David then began working at A.B. Chance/Hubbell in Centralia as a machinist until retiring in April 2010.

He was a Christian by faith and enjoyed his hobbies of fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, gardening and vacationing with the grandchildren.

David was an officer and on the executive board of IUECWA Local 86821.

Memorials are encouraged to the SSM Kidney Dialysis Center in Mexico.
