Linda B. McClellan

Linda Belle McClellan, 100, of Bowling Green died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018 at Moore-Pike Nursing Home in Bowling Green.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday at Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with the Rev. John Pinkston officiating. Burial will be in Eolia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.

Linda was born Feb. 19, 1918 in Olney, the daughter of George Henry and Izola Downing Colbert.

Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Noel and J.C. Bufford of Curryville; three grandchildren, Dennis Noel and wife, Sherri, Arlinda Warren and husband, Tom, and Cheryl Watts; 12 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and one on the way along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands, Roscoe Barnes, Clyde McClellan, and Cecil McClellan; a son, Alvin Barnes and wife, Mary Lynn; grandson, Dean Barnes; a sister, Evelyn York; brothers, Howard Colbert, Raymond Colbert, and Cullie Colbert; and son-in-law, Dale Noel.

Linda was born and raised in Olney and then moved to Eolia. After marrying Clyde they lived in Paynesville and then she moved to Bowling Green in 1974 when they retired from farming. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Bowling Green and loved reading her Bible.

Linda worked at the election polls, worked in several factories and was a telephone operator many years ago out of her home. In 1955 she worked for over 20 years as a farmer’s wife helping on the farm and enjoyed being a housewife. She loved cooking, raising flowers, gardening, and made the best chocolate pie.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brad Barnes, Todd Blackwell, Jamie Barnes, Craig Barnes, Jared Dotson, and Cody Noel. Honorary pallbearers will be Brady Watts, Monte La La, Carlos Juarez, Efrain Barragan, Jeffrey Shaw, Terry Fuerst.

Memorials may be made to the Bowling Green Methodist Church or the donor’s choice.
