Daniel ‘Dan’ Norton

Daniel “Dan” Norton, 84, of Silex in the early hours of Thursday, April 5, 2018 surrounded by his loved ones.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Monday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Millwood with Fr. Charles Tichacek officiating. Burial was in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Millwood.

Visitation was from 3-7 p.m., Sunday at Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Silex.

Dan was born March 29, 1934 in St. Louis the son of Robert L. and Nellie Donnley Norton and was raised in Lincoln County. He married his wife, Sally, on Sept. 26, 1953. They lived and worked on the farm until 1963 when they moved their growing family to Wentzville, where they would make many memories and many friends.

He became a union plumber and worked hard to support his family; he was also a member of Plumbers’ & Pipefitters’ Local 562. They moved back to Silex in 1984 to tend to the farm once more. He was an amazing and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is loved by many and will be missed by all, but he will continue to live on in our hearts.

Dan enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. He enjoyed his cat Moonshine and taking joy rides on his golf cart. He also enjoyed camping and traveling, where he and Sally made many more memories and friends.

Dan is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Sally Harrington-Norton; five sons and their spouses, Dennis and Susie of Chesterfield, Samuel and Casey of Overland Park, Doug and Lisa of Foristell, Christopher and Denise of Kansas City, Jerry and Susie of Silex; grandchildren, Nate Locke, Natalie, Sean and Shane Norton; Gretchen Black, Logan Gilbert, Adrianna, Tony and Andy Hernandez; Sarah, Travis and Tyler Norton; Natasha Vockrodt, Torre and Drew Norton; Lindsay Lawrence, Matt, Nick, Jill and Kate Norton; Tara Simmons and Cody Murphy; great-grandchildren; Kayla and Damien Gardner, Sophia Mutert, Gracie Miller, Dulin and Bobby Jo Locke, Drake Norton; Chase and Jordan Black’ Carter Lawrence; Lou Vockrodt.

He is preceded in death by his oldest son, Dannie Norton; brothers, Bobby and Ralph Norton; and sisters, Norma Zalabak and Mary Ann Bobeen.

Serving as pallbearers were Nate Locke, Dennis Norton, Samuel Norton, Douglas Norton, Christopher Norton and Jerry Norton.

In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to the St. Alphonsus School.
