Carl McPike

Carl McPike, 81, a lifelong Bowling Green died Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday at Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with the Rev. M. Faye Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens in Bowling Green.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m., until time of service at the funeral home.

Carl was born Nov. 17, 1936 in Curryville, the son of Ivan and Elizabeth Holman McPike. On Nov. 18, 1961 in Bowling Green he married Bessie Marie Talton. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Earl McPike and Tyrone McPike, both of Bowling Green; a daughter Yvonne Morgan and husband, Mark of Moscow Mills; grandchildren, James Sledge, Carlos Sledge, Heather Harness, Amy Baker, Kristen McPike, Joseph McBride, Earl McPike Jr., Malik McPike, Mirrande Morgan, Kobe McPike, Mark Morgan Jr., and Maurice Morgan; 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sandra Jean Talton-Sledge; siblings, James McPike, Leroy McPike, Hattie Mitchell, Mammie Scott, Clairemae Mitchell, Nellie Turner and two in infancy.

Carl was a truck driver for Farmers Equity Grain Elevator for 35 years and worked at Marvin’s Garage after retiring from the elevator. He attended Unied Wesley Methodist Church.

He enjoyed horseshoes, baseball and barbecuing for his family. Carl’s life revolved around his wife, kids and grandkids.

Pallbearers will be James Sledge, Carlos Sledge, Joseph McBride, Earl McPike Jr., Malik McPike, Kobe McPike, Mark Morgan Jr., and Maurice Morgan. Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Scherder, Terry Scherder, Delbert Parsons, Paul Redmond, Donnie Hendrix and Milford Shepherd.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
