PCMH To Host M.A.S.H. Camp For Middle School Students

Registration Deadline Is Thursday, July 5 For Two-Day Camp On July 12-13

Pike County Memorial Hospital will once again be hosting M.A.S.H. Camp on July 12-13 this year.

M.A.S.H. stands for the Missouri AHEC Science and Health camp. It is a two-day “hands-on” science and health summer day camp for students entering sixth, seventh and eighth grades. It is aimed to spark an interest in health care and science prior to high school coursework.

Camp instructors include health professionals, health educators, and faculty from Pike County.

Students will participate in a variety of activities including chemistry/biology labs, scrub/dissection labs, emergency medical service demonstrations, hospital tours, and other healthcare career activities.

The deadline for registration is Thursday, July 5. Registration packets can be picked up at the hospital at 2305 W. Georgia Street in Louisiana.

The camp takes place at the hospital from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The camp fee is $45 which includes meals, activities and a shirt.

Brooke James, summer intern at PCMH will be leading M.A.S.H. Camp daily activities. James is a senior at Truman State University studying health care administration. Lisa Pitzer, PCMH Med-Surg Director is the camp coordinator.
