Eastern Missouri Family YMCA Is Slated To Open Feb. 11, 2019

Debbie Hopke, Branch Director of the Eastern Missouri Family YMCA, has announced that the facility will open on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019 at 6 a.m.
“We are excited to announce the opening date for the YMCA,” Hopke said. “The YMCA has been a priority for the community for many years. I appreciate the patience, endless volunteer hours, donations, and support for this project. Although there is still construction and administrative work to finish plus funds to be raised, we will be ready to open the doors to your YMCA on Feb. 11.”
Lori Brandow, CEO of the Mexico Area Family YMCA, the association of which the Eastern Missouri Family YMCA will operate stated “We recognize a need for our services in Eastern Audrain County and are excited to bring the Y closer to home for many residents, which allows us to further strengthen the community. This project has been a very long process and members of the Vandalia and surrounding communities have worked tirelessly to make their dream of a YMCA come true. I continue to be amazed by their hard work and dedication.”
Prior to opening, a membership drive will be scheduled, with dates, times and location to be announced. Other areas of interest such as fitness classes, programs, rentals, etc. will continue to be publicized through local newspapers and social media.
“We are less than sixty days from realizing the vision and dream that was just a concept many, many years ago. Be sure to LIKE our Facebook page to stay informed daily of the calendar of events as we approach Feb. 11,” Hopke added.
