Albert F. Watson

Albert F. Watson, 82, of Vandalia died Thursday, April 25, 2019, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Audrain in Mexico.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday (today) at Waters Funeral Home in Vandalia. Pastor Bob Hoehn officiated.  Burial was in Vandalia Cemetery following the service.
Visitation was from 3-7 p.m., Monday at Waters Funeral Home.
Albert was born Dec. 13, 1936, near Spencerburg, Pike County, the son of Albert Samuel and Elsie Walsinger Watson. He was united in marriage to Donna Ebers on May 10, 1985, in Whiteside.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Watson of the home; son, Randy Watson and wife, Helen of Perry; daughters, Tammy Peck and Richard White of Columbia, and Denise Leverett and husband, Brad of Louisiana; brother, Henry Watson of Curryville; sister, Viola Hilt of Marion, Ill.; grandchildren, Kari Combs and husband, Dwayne, Nathan Watson and wife, Penny, Andy Nitcher and wife, Andrea, Dylan Black and Lakelynn Pettey and Alex Black; six great-grandchildren with one more on the way; four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Watson was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters; two grandsons, Roger Nitcher and Dusty Nitcher.
After attending the Bridgewater school in Spencer Township Albert was self-employed in the garment industry. Albert honorably served his country in the Army National Guard from 1953-55.
Away from work, Albert could be found gardening, going to flea markets and playing jokes on his friends and family. He loved old country music, water skiing when he was younger, Christmas and Hallmark movies and his cat, “baby girl”.
His biggest love was his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Watson was Christian by faith.
Pallbearers were Andy Nitcher, Ryan Combs, Cole Combs, Seth Combs, Dylan Black, and Alex Black. Honorary pallbearers are Nathan Watson, Dwayne Combs, Tavian Watson, Chase Watson, Richard White, and Brad Leverett.
